Run Away from Your Wife

Ray Cooney is among the most famous contemporary British playwrights and is often referred to as a master of farce. His comedies are popular worldwide and have been translated into more than forty languages. The great crazy comedy Run Away from Your Wife (Run for Your Wife, also known in Slovakia as 1+1=3) is one of Cooney's most popular plays. London taxi driver John Brown leads a double life in two different apartments with two wives thanks to a careful schedule. However, one day he finds himself in the hospital and is unable to stick to his timetable. Here begins a series of many funny, at times absurd events and misunderstandings – John desperately tries to mask his infidelity, conceal his bigamy from the police, and keep his two wives as far apart as possible. The play is full of situational humor and evokes, in today's times so desired, fits of laughter.
