Kubo
Kubo
The character Kubo has entertained generations of viewers, yet the comedy by Jozef Hollý continues to offer new possibilities for interpretation. The creators of Kubo at the Spiš Theater set the plot in the spirit of the season's motto 2025/2026 'The Good Old Days?' back to the early '90s in a partially dilapidated meat factory. Director Martin Bašista builds humor on the characters and the environment. Each character is searching for something – an advantage, security, love, status, or just a sense of belonging. Their desires and small self-deceptions create a tangled web of comical, yet bitterly truthful situations. The work also plays with the metaphor of a person as a 'piece of meat' – in connection with family relationships, arranged marriages, or an individual's status in the community. So it's not just a question of who Kubo is, but also how we treat Kubo and how much of him lives within ourselves.
