The Podtatranske Museum in Poprad commemorates a significant event in 2026 – the 100th anniversary of the historically first hunting exhibition in the territory of Slovakia. The exhibition in 1926 had a fundamental impact on the further development of the entire museum. Despite several obstacles, on January 1, 1926, it was announced that the exhibition would take place in July at the premises of the Carpathian Museum in Poprad (now the Podtatranske Museum in Poprad) under the leadership of exhibition deputy Kazimír Kozlovský. The main organizer of the hunting exhibition was the editor of the magazine Nimród, Vidor Juráň. Extensive preparations also required an extension of the museum building, which was decided by the leadership of the Hungarian Carpathian Society on March 27, 1926. The builder Július Marcsán was entrusted with the execution of the construction work. Although the original budget amounted to 54,000 crowns, the final costs reached 70,000 crowns. Thanks to the support of the public and the city of Poprad, two new exhibition rooms with an area of 242 m² were created. Thus, the exhibition was not only a significant social event but also an impetus for the expansion of the museum, which still forms a part of its history today.
