FACE FROM THE BILLBOARD
News about faces and heads
The main theme of the game Face from the Billboard is the power of marketing and the superficiality of society, which chooses to give space to empty, media-created faces while real human values remain in the background. The author reflects on the current era through the environment of media and marketing strategies, in which faces without content are routinely produced to control society.
Here, two value systems confront each other: on one side, the world of image, where form is more important than content, and on the other side, the belief that the unobtrusive message of an ordinary yet honest person can shake the others "more" than a charismatic face without content. This conflict is significantly manifested in the tension between the agency, which claims that the face sells more than the idea, and the character of Dominik Mravec, whose authenticity and unobtrusiveness stir the waters of the media world.
Dominik Mravec is not a character lost in himself. He reflects on his life and through the billboard tries to leave a simple, unobtrusive message - that life can be lived decently and with dignity. It is not about a grand or pathetic gesture, but about a quiet attitude that contrasts with the noisy media reality.
The timeliness of the play raises the question during the pre-election period of whether quiet, unobtrusive decency still has a place in today's world, which emphasizes external image and superficiality. The play offers the viewer space to reflect on the value of an authentic human attitude and the importance of remaining primarily a decent person.
Premieres are scheduled for March 2026.
