Ludwika Włodek: Four Flags, One Address
Ludwika Włodek: Four Flags, One Address
The Center for Independent Culture CHYŽA CNK and the publishing house Absynt invite you to a discussion with Polish journalist Ludwika Włodek.
DISCOVER THE REMARKABLE STORY OF THE SPIŠ REGION
Many questions are hard to answer in Spiš. Who owns the language? Who owns the territory? And who owns the memory? And what about the memories that nobody wants to return to? Polish journalist Ludwika Włodek attempts to answer these questions in her reportage book Four Flags, One Address. And she adds many more. Where have the Germans and Jews gone? Why are there so many Roma living here? Is Spiš more Polish or Slovak?
Come and listen to a fascinating narrative about a region where boundaries, national identities, regimes, and political power have repeatedly changed over the last approximately five hundred years. The author Ludwika Włodek will come directly to us in Spišská to personally present her book and reveal the secrets of Spiš identity. The discussion will be moderated by Dominika Sakmárová and translated by Mário Kyseľ.
Musical guest: Stela / alt-rock, art-rock (Poprad)
