Berzewicz Tower
Berzewicz Tower
Introduction
Berzewicz Tower is an architecturally interesting observation tower on the summit of Stebnická Magura above Bardejov. The grand opening took place on November 21, 2024. The name is not random - it follows the original tower at this location, destroyed during World War I. The new tower is almost a copy of its predecessor.
History
The original tower at this location was destroyed during World War I. The new tower was built as a tribute to this history and an effort to preserve the memory of past times.
Characteristics
The tower has a reinforced concrete structure clad in wood, 104 metal steps, and the viewing platform is located at a height of 21 meters. The investor was OOCR Šariš - Bardejov, with a substantial portion funded by the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Tourism and Sport.
View
Although the summit of Stebnická Magura is a suitable place for an observation tower, a circular view could not be secured. To the east, from the very beginning, we look at the tops of grown trees. Views in other directions are distant - most captivating is the complete view of Čergov from the north and the attractive volcanic mountain range of Busov. You can also see the Slanské Hills, Čierna hora, and partially the Ondava Uplands.
Access
The easiest ascent is either from the east from Zborov, or from Bardejovské kúpele spa, where you can fill a bottle with excellent mineral spring water.
