CHRISTINE HABERMANN VON HOCH

Christine Habermann von Hoch (* 1980) is a Czech-German sculptor and metal designer.
She is known for her monumental steel sculptures as well as her subtle plastic work that gives iron an impression of fragility. She studied fine arts, German philology, art education, and the history of art at universities in Olomouc, Florence, Dresden, and Vienna, combining intellectual depth with a characteristic visual language. Her artistic development was deeply influenced by her father, Alfred Habermann (1930-2008), an internationally recognized artistic blacksmith and sculptor, from whom she learned traditional metalworking techniques.

She established her studio in Příbor, Czech Republic, where she creates autonomous artistic and design works and develops projects for international clients and collectors. Alongside her artistic activities, she lectures internationally and shares her expertise throughout Europe and the United States. Christine imparts her skills and innovative ideas as a visiting lecturer, for example, at the University of Gothenburg and Steneby MetalArt. She teaches and conducts lectures and courses in the USA, Austria, Italy, and Germany.

She works at the intersection of material and metaphysics. Her works transform the raw power of steel into vessels of light, reflection, and spiritual resonance. Through monumental sculptures, architectural realizations, and refined design objects, she reveals metal not only as a material but also as a medium of transcendence. In her works, she often incorporates light, focusing on lamp design in functional art.

Her works are represented in private and public collections around the world.

This is her first exhibition at the Tatra Gallery and in Slovakia; she captivated us with her intriguing installation, her perspective on art, and her warmth.
