Tourist Event: Medvedí Jarok Spring

The Department of the Slovak Tourist Club AC Lokomotíva Bane Spišská Nová Ves organizes a hike with a workday to improve the surroundings near the Medvedí Jarok spring.

Meeting Point: Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 8:00 AM at the SNV bus station Departure: at 8:08 AM by bus MHD No. 12 towards Novoveská Huta, Poľovník – the meeting for the hike starts at 8:35 AM Estimated Return: SNV bus station 3:00 PM

Route: Novoveská Huta, Poľovník – through Novoveská Huta – unmarked trail Voznica to Vúrec saddle – saddle below Medveďa hlavou – Medvedí Jarok spring – saddle below Medveďa hlavou with the possibility of descent to: – Košiarny briežok – Spišská Nová Ves – Novoveská Huta, Poľovník – by bus to SNV

Transportation: on foot Difficulty: easy - ascent, descent 375 m Distance: 8.5 km Estimated time of transportation: approximately 3:00 hours.

Notes: In the first stage, it will be necessary to cut down a tree that has fallen near the spring, improve the surroundings of the spring (digging a drainage), transporting stones, and improving the access road. Every hand will be needed. Please bring suitable tools to improve the area around the spring. If anyone has and can bring a chainsaw, please let us know. An axe, saw, pickaxe, hoe, or an old bag for stones will definitely help – each according to their consideration. Your ideas for improving the area around the spring will be welcome. If you bring bacon or sausage in your backpack, it's possible to sit around and grill by the fire.

Only members of the KST AC LB SNV department with a membership card and valid sticker for the year 2026 are insured during the hike. Each participant attends the hiking event at their own risk, and is responsible for their safety and behavior in nature.
