Opening of the Summer Season – KEŽMAROK CASTLE
We invite all enthusiasts of history, culture, and family fun to the ceremonial opening of the summer tourist season. The castle gates will swing wide open on Sunday, May 3rd at 1:00 PM. A rich program in the castle courtyard will offer experiences for all age groups, from children’s smiles to deep musical emotions.
The program will start at 1:00 PM with a short ecumenical service attended by representatives of the church, doc. ThLic. Martin Majda, PhD., Mgr. Roman Porubän, Mgr. Dominik Petrík, and speeches by the organizers. The summer season will be symbolically opened – with a ceremonial salute – by the historical fencing group Cohors. They will demonstrate combat with medieval weapons and engage the young audience in an interactive scene vying for the princess's favor.
A Day Full of Children’s Joy The youngest visitors can look forward to a 50-minute interactive program filled with stories, dance, and songs. Spievankovo: A Disco will bring to the stage beloved heroes – Spievanka and Lišiak da Vinca, who will be accompanied live by a musician. Children will become a direct part of the musical celebration. Klaun Adyno will provide another dose of laughter with his funny sketches.
The fun will continue in the castle premises as well. During the self-guided tour, scouts from the 3rd troop of Anička and Bořivoj Uhrových in Kežmarok prepared various fun and playful activities for the children.
The Highlight: Award-winning Katarína Koščová and Daniel Špiner The musical highlight of Sunday afternoon will be the concert of the duo Katarína Koščová and Daniel Špiner. This pair will offer the audience a deep and intimate musical experience. “This is my favorite way of playing, as a duo. I feel that is when the best of both of us comes out. The most relaxed, the freest,” says the singer about her collaboration with Daniel Špiner.
Visitors will also hear songs from their latest album Krehkosť, which won the prestigious Radio_Head Awards in the Folk category for 2023. Minimalist arrangements with piano and vocals promise a concert where the audience will witness a true friendship and lyrical experiencing.
The space in front of the castle will during the day belong to the popular antique market, which has free entry. The castle grounds will offer rich refreshments for visitors.
By purchasing a ticket for the opening of the season, visitors also gain a 50% discount on the admission to the exhibits of the Museum of Bourgeois Residential Culture in the Main Square and to the Exhibition Hall of the museum on Ul.
