Musical tea at five / Mäkkelä

The CHYŽA CNK Center for Independent Culture invites you to a concert by Finnish singer-songwriter Mäkkelä / folk noir (Germany/Finland).

Martti Mäkkelä first performed in Spišská Nová Ves 11 years ago. Martti, a native Finn living in Germany, arrived sick that time but still delivered a great concert. Since then, he has been returning to Spišská regularly. On May 24th, Sunday, it will be his 8th concert in SNV. His music is accurately captured by the genre mentioned in the graphic – folk noir. Just like noir films carry a pessimistic atmosphere, created by the director using dark character silhouettes, shadows of blinds, a dark night street, or rain and fog, Martti can create similar imagery with his music, which has a pessimistic undertone yet also carries a sense of hope.
