The Theater Practice Center Gardzienice is one of the most significant theater centers in the world.
ELEKTRA23 (based on Euripides) features: Joanna Holcgreber direction and dramaturgy: Joanna Holcgreber
“Electra” - a drama written by Euripides almost two and a half thousand years ago. A story of jealousy, envy, and a burning desire for revenge. A story about people who are playthings in the hands of gods. A story that is still painfully relevant. A story where words come alive through gestures.
The Elektra23 performance grew from the fertile soil of the production of Electra directed by Włodzimierz Staniewski, which premiered in Gardzienice in 2004. In her solo version of Euripides' drama, Joanna Holcgreber works with cheironomy - the art of gesticulation, whose roots go back to the theater of ancient Greece.
