Édith Piaf: A Life in Cabaret

Édith Piaf is known worldwide as an extraordinarily successful and exceptional Francophone singer. Behind her music lies a poignant story full of suffering, pain, but also love. Love is the central theme of the 2023/2024 season at the Spiš Theatre. Director Viktor Kollár has created a cabaret that intertwines the brightest moments of the most famous chanson singer with falls to the very bottom. This original musical theatrical work portrays Édith Piaf as an astounding talent, but also as a desperate woman marked by a childhood devoid of love, who longs to love and be loved. It captures the people who shaped her life – pulling her to the depths or helping her reach the heights. The performance is not only a journey into the secret corners of this singer's soul but also a journey into the corners of the theatre. The reconstructed theatre studio will transform into a cabaret.
