CHLAST

In the play Chlast, four teachers and friends in their mature years stagger through life indifferently. Charismatic Martin, a history teacher, alternates between one boring life step after another. Sensitive music teacher Peter stands in contrast to physical education teacher Tommy, who knows how to roar, not just on the playground. The celebration of forty years for thoughtful psychology teacher Nikolaj is what sets off a full-blown spiral of tragicomic situations. Above all, it opens the door to a cunning experiment, how else, with alcohol. Hold on to your hats, this furious comedy with a touch of sharp sadness will answer many life questions. Can alcohol awaken a better version of ourselves?

“Eating-sleeping-reproducing is no longer enough at this moment. Are we capable of withstanding decisions even when the ground beneath our feet is uncertain?” Find out for yourself.

In full battle readiness, a quartet of excellent actors will present themselves. Marián Miezga, Ady Hajdu, Róbert Jakab, and Braňo Deák will keep the right “level” of humor and life wisdom throughout. Join them for a theatrical celebration of life.

The script and stage adaptation are by renowned Danish filmmaker Thomas Vinterberg. The film version of Chlast won over the world in 2020, capturing the hearts of audiences and critics alike. It brought home several prestigious international awards from film festivals, including an Oscar.
