DRUNK
DRUNK
Experience an intense experiment that begins as an innocent game and ends with lasting consequences. There is a theory that we walk through life with a deficit of happiness. Perhaps we just need to top it up a little. Just 0.5 per mille... A fun yet brutally honest Nordic tragicomedy, it speaks about loss and the pursuit of joy in the everyday grayness of life. We are kept entertained and reflective by excellent actors – men in the prime of their lives – Marián Miezga, Ady Hajdu, Braňo Deák, and Róbert Jakab. Four friends, four high school teachers find themselves at a crossroads in life. Burnout has caught them at their peak and led them to resign their dreams and ambitions. Monotonous days drag on in an endless stereotype of duties. Mockery from students, occasional snide remarks at home, their own reflection in the mirror that they do not recognize. The status quo, which must inevitably break one day. An opportunity arises during the celebration of one of their 40th birthdays, when they discover a bold and somewhat risky theory from a Norwegian philosopher. It asserts that a person is born with a deficiency of 0.5 per mille of alcohol in their blood. The solution is regular replenishment, leading to greater self-confidence, creativity, drive, and satisfaction. In short, everything that the four faded men and dusty teachers desire. So why not try it on their own skin? The glasses are filled, the alcohol testers fluctuate, the experiment hopefully begins. It seems the theory works — life becomes more colorful, self-image corrects, and the crushing routine collapses. What about increasing the dose? Will the results be even more dazzling? Will they manage to reach the ignition point mentioned in the theory? And what if their joyful dancing suddenly turns into pitiful stumbling? When do they have drinking in their hands, and when does alcohol have them in its hands? A story based on the screenplay and stage adaptation by one of the most significant creators of Nordic cinema and drama, Thomas Vinterberg, director of the acclaimed works Festen and Another Round. The film version of Another Round won the Oscar for Best International Feature Film in 2020, received several awards at the European Film Awards, and was seen by many viewers around the world. Event duration: 125 minutes Production year: 2025 Local premiere date: June 2, 2026
