1474/Experience Poprad and Die

"Imagine if there was no one left who remembered you. How many such people lived before us? But for us, they may as well have never existed. We know nothing about them and we will never find out anything more about them."

A play about a forgotten girl from the first transport, after which only the number 1474 remains. A unique production by Roman Olekšák, a native of Poprad, brings the theme of the first transport of Jewish girls, which was dispatched from the Poprad station. It portrays the social atmosphere, moods, attitudes, ideological beliefs, and mindset of the time in an extraordinary, sharp, direct, and ruthless way, blending into a terrifying caricature through the narration of the main character.

No one can take away Poprad's infamous primacy. It makes no sense to mourn endlessly over history, to be ashamed of it, or even to remain silent about it. It is good to try to understand it, to come to terms with it, and to do everything possible to ensure that it does not happen again.
